Cyber Security Canada Announces Pursuit of CMMC Third-Party Assessor Organization (C3PAO) Authorization to Serve Global Defense Industrial Base

Petawawa, Ontario – December 9, 2025 – Cyber Security Canada, a leading provider of cybersecurity compliance and assessment services with a deep specialization in Canadian government and international standards, including CAN/DGSI 104 and ISO 27001, announced it is in the advanced stages of the authorization process to become a Certified Third-Party Assessor Organization (C3PAO) under the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program.

This strategic expansion is a direct response to the increasing demand from the international Defense Industrial Base (DIB), particularly Canadian and U.S. contractors, who require expert, impartial assessments to maintain eligibility for lucrative DoD contracts.

Bridging Canadian Expertise to Global Compliance

For years, Cyber Security Canada has been the trusted partner for Canadian and international organizations navigating complex cyber regulations. The move to pursue C3PAO authorization by The Cyber AB (the CMMC Accreditation Body) represents a natural progression of that commitment.

“Our deep, proven history with standards like CAN/DGSI 104 and ISO 27001 positions us uniquely to help Canadian and international organizations achieve CMMC compliance with speed and precision,” said Victor Beiter, CEO. “We understand that CMMC Level 2 is fundamentally built on the same core principles of protecting sensitive information. Our goal is to serve as the global assessment partner that can simplify the transition from a strong local or sectoral security posture to a mandatory, world-class standard like CMMC.”

Key Highlights of the Initiative:

Global Reach: Once authorized, Cyber Security Canada will conduct official CMMC Level 2 assessments for Organizations Seeking Certification (OSCs) in Canada, the United States, and worldwide.

Focus on CUI Protection: The C3PAO authorization confirms Cyber Security Canada’s own security posture meets the stringent requirements for assessing the protection of CUI and ensuring the DIB supply chain is secure.

Leveraging Existing Trust: The firm’s established reputation for rigorous, quality-driven assessment and compliance advisory services will now be applied to the CMMC framework, providing continuity and trust for its client base.

Next Steps

Cyber Security Canada is actively collaborating with The Cyber AB and the Defense Industrial Base Cybersecurity Assessment Center (DIBCAC) to complete the final assessment and review processes. The firm expects to achieve Authorized C3PAO status and begin performing assessments in the First Quarter of 2026.

Contractors seeking immediate CMMC readiness support, including gap assessments and preparation for a formal C3PAO audit, can engage with Cyber Security Canada’s existing CMMC-trained professionals.
